Fans Urge Custody of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are urging that a individual who leaped a barricade and grabbed the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A viral footage reveals the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the actors walked down a event pathway accompanied by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "free after being detained", though court documents showed that he was set to appear on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Record of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram account contains recordings of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user wrote.
Followers Voice Worry Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented a further response on Instagram.
A number of attendees also questioned guards at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while others demanded digital services to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande seemed shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Many of fans had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The movie, to be released on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-film adaptation of the acclaimed stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely bond between two very different sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and received 10 Oscar nominations, winning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
